Verigate

Terms of Service

Effective June 9, 2026 · Last updated October 23, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Georgii Shilovskii, an individual developer (“we”, “us”, “our”), the developer of the Verigate application (“Verigate” or the “App”), contactable at support@verigateid.app.

By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Verigate.

Summary

Verigate is a native iPhone ID scanner and local admission log for age-gated venues, distributed through the App Store. It runs locally on your iPhone — no accounts, no telemetry — except for optional team events, which share end-to-end encrypted records between an organizer’s team phones through our server. Barcode and manual checks, every live ID result including possible fake, the default passback signal, Quick Scan, operator Admit/Deny, and viewing on-device History are free. “Premium” features (the detailed AAMVA report, Ban/VIP list management and CSV import, Insights, CSV/PDF export, extended passback settings, manual device-to-device list transfer, and team events) unlock via a Monthly or Yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase, priced in the App Store and billed by Apple. Verigate is an assist tool, not a legal guarantee of identity or age — admission and service decisions are always yours. Outside team events, your data lives on your iPhone; we never receive it and cannot recover it.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the current version. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

1. Licence

We grant you a personal/business, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Verigate on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Usage Rules and these Terms. You may not redistribute, sublicence, rent, lease, or resell Verigate, nor remove any proprietary notices from it.

2. Subscriptions, lifetime purchase, and pricing

  • Verigate is free to download. Barcode and manual checks, every live ID result including possible fake, age-threshold settings, the default passback signal, Quick Scan, operator Admit/Deny, and viewing on-device History are free without an account.
  • Premium features — the detailed AAMVA consistency report, Ban/VIP list management and CSV import, Insights, CSV/PDF export, extended passback settings, manual device-to-device list transfer, and team events — unlock via either an auto-renewing subscription (Monthly or Yearly, in the “Premium” group) or a one-time Lifetime non-consumable purchase.
  • Transfer Lists moves Ban/VIP lists through a file you explicitly share; it is not live sync. Records are shared live between phones only inside a team event (section 6), which requires Premium on the organizer’s device; Staff phones join it free.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, in Verigate’s Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Prices are set per Apple’s pricing tiers and shown in the App Store at the time of purchase; they may vary by region and may change for future renewals or new purchases. Purchases are charged to your Apple ID at confirmation.
  • The checked-in purchase configuration does not enable Family Sharing; availability may vary according to the current App Store configuration.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policy. We are not able to issue refunds directly. Submit refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Verigate is an assistance tool, not a legal guarantee of identity, age, or document authenticity. The age/expiry verdict is computed from the data encoded in the document’s barcode; the “possible fake” indicator is a heuristic consistency check, not a forensic determination, and can produce false positives and false negatives.

You are solely responsible for your own admission, refusal, and compliance decisions and for verifying identity and age to the standard your law and policies require. Do not rely on Verigate as your sole basis for serving or admitting any person. The in-app verdict screens display this assist-tool disclaimer.

4. Lawful use & your guests’ data

You are responsible for using Verigate lawfully, including any laws governing the scanning, processing, retention, or sharing of identity-document or personal data in your jurisdiction (e.g. state ID-scanning and privacy statutes, biometric-privacy laws such as Illinois BIPA, PIPEDA, GDPR/UK GDPR). Where required, you are responsible for providing notice to and obtaining consent from the individuals you scan.

Because the App may scan documents of people who are under the age threshold, you are also responsible for the lawful handling of any data subject, including minors, under applicable law. As between you and us, you are the controller of the data you collect about your guests. Outside team events we never receive it; in a team event our server only stores and forwards it in encrypted form that we cannot read (section 6).

5. Your data & no recovery

Except for team events (section 6), Verigate stores everything it handles locally on your device, and we do not collect, receive, or have access to any of it. You are responsible for your own backups and for any consequences of data loss. We provide no recovery mechanism for data lost to device loss, disk failure, software bugs, or your own deletions. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.

6. Team events

  • What they are. A team event lets an organizer with an active Premium entitlement run one event with up to 10 Staff phones, which share guest records, decisions, and Ban/VIP lists through our server. Staff phones join free by scanning the organizer’s code; the organizer adds each phone and sets its name and door. Team events need an internet connection and a device that supports Apple’s App Attest. A walkthrough is on How Team events work.
  • Provided as is. The team-event server is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any uptime or service-level commitment. Records can be delayed, and a phone without a connection cannot send or receive until it reconnects. A missing or late record is not proof that a guest was not seen at another door — keep using your own judgment.
  • The organizer’s responsibility. The organizer decides who joins the event, what it shares, and when it ends, and is responsible for the phones and people they add and for sharing guest data with them lawfully (section 4). Everyone on the event can read its records. Staff take part in the event under the organizer’s instructions.
  • Encryption and no recovery. Team records are end-to-end encrypted on the phones. We do not hold the event key and cannot read, restore, or hand over their content. The server keeps an event only as long as the Privacy Policy describes: it deletes the event once every phone has sent its last records after End (or earlier, if the organizer chooses), within 14 days after End, or once the event is 30 days old if it is never ended. Records a phone had not sent or received before then cannot be recovered.
  • Fair use of the server. You agree not to access the server other than through the App, interfere with or overload it, or try to reach another team’s data. We may limit request rates, refuse service to a device that abuses the server, and change, suspend, or discontinue team events, including for maintenance or security. Where reasonably possible, we will announce a discontinuation in advance through an App update.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble Verigate except as permitted by applicable law or the App Store EULA, (b) circumvent any technical mechanism that gates Premium features, (c) misuse the team-event server as described in section 6, or (d) use Verigate to violate any law or any person’s rights.

8. Intellectual property

Verigate, its source code, branding, and documentation are owned by us and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. Verigate uses only Apple’s frameworks and Apple’s open-source libraries and bundles no third-party SDKs.

If you send us questions, feedback, suggestions, or bug reports, you agree that we may use them without obligation, attribution, or compensation, for the purpose of operating and improving Verigate.

9. Updates

We may release updates that add, modify, or remove features. We currently target iOS 18 and later; some changes may affect older iOS compatibility. Updates ship through the App Store.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that any document will be read, that any verdict or fake-ID indication will be accurate, that the team-event server will be available or will deliver every record, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS — INCLUDING ANY REGULATORY FINE, PENALTY, OR LIABILITY ARISING FROM ADMITTING OR SERVING ANY PERSON — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF VERIGATE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (THROUGH APPLE) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

12. Termination

You may stop using Verigate and cancel any active subscription at any time. We may terminate or suspend access if you materially breach these Terms or where required by law. Sections 3 through 11 survive termination.

13. Apple-specific terms (App Store distribution)

You and we acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). We — not Apple — are solely responsible for Verigate and its content. To the extent these Terms grant rights or remedies inconsistent with the App Store Terms of Service, the App Store Terms control.

Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance of these Terms, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.

Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to Verigate. Any claim relating to Verigate’s failure to conform to any applicable warranty may be directed to Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (where applicable). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Verigate.

You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. government embargo, and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Mexican States (Estados Unidos Mexicanos), without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The competent courts of Mérida, Yucatán, México shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under these Terms.

Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the jurisdiction in which you habitually reside.

15. Changes & contact

We may update these Terms; the Last updated date above will reflect the current version. For questions about these Terms, complaints about the App, or any other inquiry, please contact us:
